São Manoel Energy Company - EESM is responsible for the construction of the São Manoel Hydroelectric Power Plant (HPP) according to the Generation Concession Agreement No. 02 /2014 MME and constituted by the shareholders EDP BRASIL SA, Furnas Centrais Elétricas and China Three Gorges Corporation - CTG, São Manoel Energia assumed the commitment to build the project in 48 months at a cost of R $ 2.2 billion.
The São Manoel Hydroelectric Power Plant is located in the middle course of the Teles Pires river, on the border between the states of Mato Grosso and Pará, in the municipalities of Paranaíta, in Mato Grosso, and Jacareacanga, in Pará.
With an installed capacity of 700MW, it will provide enough electricity in the National Interconnected System (SIN) to serve a population of about 2.5 million people. This means that this plant alone will be able to supply about 4 times the city of Cuiabá and 1,5 times the city of Belém.
